Hate Speach
Well today my brother and I had a conversation about Hate Speech. I had shared with him an article I read about H.R. 1913 that could make it illegal for pastors, along with anyone else to speak against Homosexuality. This is a major concern. It is also a slippery slope.
I have a responsibility to preach the faith of Jesus Christ. And that means that I would have to include the New Testament point of view on Homosexuality. IT’S WRONG. Now, unlike so much of our world, I would also encourage everyone to understand that according to the Bible we are all sinful, and no matter what sin, we can be forgiven of it. With that said, and supported in a previous article, I must now ask, am I to be quiet on the one sin of Homosexuality but not the rest? That doesn’t make sense at all.
And as for the idea that saying that Homosexuality is wrong somehow leads to someone going out and finding a homosexual person to hurt them, you could just as well say that because we all sin that we could walk up and punch the next person we see. Once again, that doesn’t make any sense at all.
We don’t need to stop preaching the Bible to find peace with each other. Just the opposite; we need to preach it from every street, road, branch, building, business, home, house and park we find. The more we understand that we are none perfect and that we all need forgiveness, the more we will find peace not only with ourselves, but also with one another.
Today’s reading: Matthew 5
